Encryption serious problem

$

0

Hello all, this is my first topic. Thank you in advance for your answers.

For my PDF I use 'Encryption' to allow the user to ONLY print the document. When I open this pdf with a reader (Acrobat Reader, Foxit) the behaviour is correct and all actions are blocked (except printing)

The problem occurs when I open it with a browser directly from an email.
For example if you open an attached pdf in web outlook with firefox, you can COPY content from the document without problem!
Same thing opening the attached pdf in gmail web.

How is it possible? Browsers or webmail can bypass encryption so easily?
I use pdf creator free v4.10 build 13336 so the encryption is max 128 bit aes.

Is this the problem?

Roberto.

Setup server to save to local directory

$

Ok ... newbie question. Answer is probably right in front of my face. How do I set up the queue target directory to save to a local folder? I want to save to the user's local c:\temp_fm folder.

I currently have it set up as: <ClientComputer>\c:\temp_fm

I've tried with and without the leading slash. Nothing works. I can save all day long to the server but need to save to the local.

This error is being logged:

[Error] pdfforge.PDFCreator.Core.Workflow.ConversionWorkflow.RunWorkflow: Error FilePath_InvalidRootedPath: Invalid Profile

Thanks a bunch!

PDFCreator puts dashes instead of dots in sheet numbers!

We have sheet names with periods in the number which PDF Creator prints as dashes! For example P.1.2 - Plumbing Sheet would print as P-1-2-Plumbing sheet. WHY is this? How do you print the sheets EXACTLY like they show in Revit with dashes AND dots?

Lossing Profiles

Hello, everyone,

i have a strange phenomenon with the PDF creator 3.5.1.
For no apparent reason the profiles of a user on a PC disappear. The preset profile saves the PDF to a fixed location on the hard disk.
The profiles are still visible under another user on the same PC.
My profile list looks like this in case of an error:
pdfcreator_missing_profiles

So far I could not find any clue why this user loses the profiles.
There are no Windows updates installed, the PDF Creator has not been updated.
Does anyone of you know this phenomenon or can solve it ?

PDFCreator replaces dots (.) with dashes (-)

Whenever I print from Revit using PDFCreator, it keeps replaces any dots (.) in the sheet names with dashes (-). For example, a sheet names P.1.0 would save as P-1-0. FYI I do have a RegEx named ".*Sheet - +" but that's just to print the sheet names as file names. Anyone else have this issue? I've tried for over a month now to contact the PDFCreator support team and they've provided nothing but rude and incompetent responses so I expect no help from them.

PDFCreator 4.1.2 - Error adding attachment

$

Dear alls,

Environment: PDFCreator (version 4.1.2 on Windows 7) through COM interface.
Goal: Print xls sheet to pdf file using an existing pdf file as attachment.

Calling method PrintJob.ConvertTo(String path), I get the following error : "Error while adding attachment to the document. (23999)".
Looking at PDFCreator.log.txt (19.6 KB) (trace level activated), this error is raised because the pdf file used as attachment is password protected and no owner password is provided to the iText library (used internally by pdfcreator).

Performing the same operation through pdfcreator virtual printer instead of COM interface failed with the same error.
Performing the same operation (with COM interface and/or virtual printer) with a pdf file NOT password protected as attachment works correctly.

Is there a way to provide the pdf attachment's password to PDFCreator prior to call ConvertTo method ?
If it's not forseen to provide password for attachment, a bug report should be created :worried:

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Removing the dialog during a workflow

$

Hi,
I'm a newbie to PDF creator. I have a workflow in which I want to right click, save a Word file as pdf, and have it store the PDF in the directory in which it was created.
Right now when I do this, Word opens (expected), then the PDF Creator window opens to ask me where to save (I don't want this, I just want it to save in the directory in which the Word file resides) and finally PDF Architect Opens up. (I don't want this either).

How do I remove the unwanted dialogs from my workflow? I've toyed with the settings and can't quite figure it out.

Thank you in advance.

Version Question

Hello,

I would like to evaluate the software for the emailing of PDFs.

I have an application that runs on Windows Server 2016. The application outputs reports and labels. The application can be set to send specific jobs to PDF Creator.

I would like to have PDF Creator read a certain field on the PDF and email the created PDF to certain users based on that field in the document. I have a functioning SMTP relay server in place.

Would the PDF Creator Professional version and license work for this purpose?

Thanks

Charles

Custom printer will not install from shared settings

Hi,
We are planning to roll out an installation of PDFCreator Pro to all of our employees. We will use the shared settings with the ini-file. We have, except from the default settings, created one custom profile and one custom printer with that profile attached. But when we start PDFCreator after the installation the program doesn't create the printer. Only the default printer is created. The Profiles shows as "Disabled By Administrator". When I load the ini-file from the Debug-menu the program creates the printer.

Hello,
The online documentation for PDFCreator (Free) says that I can set the "Check for updates" frequency to "Never" in version 4.1.2. This is not true. Has that feature been removed in the Windows 7 32-bit version? Thank you.

PDF Creator 2.5 SCripting

Hi,

I'm trying to rename a PDF based on the contents of the PDF using the Run Script option and wondering if there's any documentation on how to use tokens via VBA or if my approach is correct?

My plan is to use VB/VBA to assign the contents of the PDF to string variable, parse the variable to find the data I want for the name and rename the file. I can likely do all of the above easily, but is there a way to assign the value to the token and then use the Add Token option to rename the file?

Single page continuous scrolling setting in created files

When printing with PDFCreator 4.1.2 it always creates a PDF file with Single page viewing when viewed in Adobe Reader. I'd prefer Single page continuous as a default setting in the file, rather than having to set that as a default setting in Adobe Reader.

Is there a setting in tjhe printer driver that will dow this?

Hi,
I'm trying to setup some things, like printing a hard copy and/or protect a document with password but doesnt work.
I'm using COM Interface on VB6, method SetProfileSetting to setup properties like:
First of all I setup profile by SetProfileByGuid("DefaultGuid")
Printing.SelectPrinter , "SelectedPrinter"
Printing.PrinterName , "XXX"
Printing.Enabled , "True"
PDFSettings.Security.Enabled , "True"
PDFSettings.Security.EncryptionLevel , "AES128Bit"
PDFSettings.Security.RequireUserPassword , "True"
PDFSettings.Security.UserPassword , "YYY"
PDFSettings.Security.OwnerPassword , "ZZZ"
Then use ConvertTo to made PDF file but no protected PDF, no printed PDF.
Can anybody show some example code?
Thanks.

Clicking Yes brings up the next window.

I have tried some of the fixes listed in earlier forums running the printerhelper.exe, removing PDFCreator items from the Registry, I have also disbaled our McAfee software on the machine. Most of the forum items are for older versions so is there any new info or install procedures that can be tried for version 4.1.2?
